The Grote Kerk (Great Church) in Alkmaar has an ongoing free exhibition series titled “Halleluja! Contemporary Altar Pieces”. One of these altar pieces is Birdcage by David Claerbout, which can be seen from March 29 until May 18, 2025. In this video installation Belgian artist Claerbout investigates how time, memories and observation shape our understanding of reality. INDYVIDEO installed the impressive 3,5 by 4,5 metre LED-screen that the piece plays on.
